Fox Resorts prides itself on crafting personalised experiences for discerning guests, who wish to step away from impersonal chain hotels, and enjoy the finer moments of an intimate property steeped in history.

The latest addition to its unique properties, is Fox Jaffna, which offers a new dimension of accommodation offerings to the Northern region. Complete with history, a story and identity, Fox Jaffna in Kokkuvil is a 200 year old ancestral home of a prominent business family.

During the three decade civil war, the property was seized by both the LTTE forces and the Sri Lankan Military. The LTTE used the property as their intelligence headquarters, and built three concrete bunkers within the property itself, of which one leading to the beach and to the Jaffna fort has been blocked by us for security reasons. The Government forces too then used the premises as their intelligence headquarters, once they regained control of the Northern peninsular.  It was returned to its owners at the end of the conflict, and has been lovingly restored to its original condition.

Interestingly, the remaining two of the bunkers have been converted into a unique art gallery, and a museum. The art gallery showcases never-before seen works of Sri Lanka’s eminent masters including those of the famed ’43 Group. Reproductions of paintings by George Keyt, David Paynter, Justin Deraniyagala and many more adorn the halls of the public areas, gallery and bedrooms, which belong to the owner’s private collection.

This enchanting facility is located just minutes away from the city center. Guests can enjoy peaceful and quiet surroundings in which they can unwind after a day full of business activities, sightseeing or visiting friends and family in Jaffna town.

The hotel swimming pool has received rave reviews, set as it is in the lush gardens of the hotel, offering guests a soothing cool dip. “Chef”, the resort’s multi cuisine restaurant, specializes in authentic Jaffna food. Specialties include Jaffna style crab curry, mutton “porial”, “vendiya kolumbu”, “kool” soup and a host of other mouthwatering delights that are renowned globally.  Seafood enthusiasts will love the daily selection of seafood, including crab, jumbo prawns and cuttlefish, caught fresh and prepared in the delicate, classic style that best captures its natural flavor. If you like hoppers, the milk hopper originated in Jaffna.

Immersed in history, Fox Jaffna tells the centuries-long tale of a home that has endured turbulent times and been transformed into a luxurious sanctuary for visitors keen to explore the undiscovered beauty of Northern Sri Lanka.

In addition to Jaffna, Mas Villa by Fox Resorts in Kotmale is the centuries-old ancestral home of Gamini Dissanayake, one of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated politicians.  Set amidst the rolling hills of central Sri Lanka, it offers a magnificent vista overlooking the Mahaweli River Valley, and contains its own jungle, replete with wildlife and exotic flora.

Ranna Beach Villa by Fox Resorts, lies along a pristine golden sand beach, once a private home built to capture Sri Lanka’s ocean views.  Newer than its sister properties, Ranna has already begun to build its own history, with Fox guests writing their own stories in its secluded surroundings. The 3-bedroom villa is strikingly different from other Fox Resorts properties, but retains the brand’s gracious service and exquisite cuisine.
